A cup of autumn tea...

(edited with Kim Klassen's dream it texture-
quote by Dorothy Parker)

Autumn officially begins this week on Thursday the 22nd of September.  After summer like weather last week, this weekend the weather turned rainy and cool as if on cue.

(edited with Kim Klassen's evolve texture)

Today's still life is a little celebration of the simple joys of autumn, some fall foliage, a good book, a cup of hot tea, a little baby boo pumpkin.

(edited with Kim Klassen's Monday texture)

(I'm particularly fond of Kim Klassen's Monday texture used in the photos above and below.  A bit of a heavier hand than I'd normally use with texture and yet I rather like the effect.)

I can honestly say that autumn is my favorite season, in much the same way that I can honestly say that each one of my three daughters is my favorite.  There's something unique about each of my girls that makes that one my favorite.  Similarly, there's something unique about each of the seasons that makes the season I'm in my favorite. So, autumn is my favorite for its colorful beauty, its foggy mornings, its homemade soup weather, its pumpkin filled desserts, its cozy candlelight and warm fireside moments, to name a few things.

How about you?  What do you like about autumn?

  2. I love your photos. Yes, here autumn is coming too. I am grateful that the heat is gone here in Holland. It is cooler so we sleep better :-) Autumn is coming and my mother is very ill. Her body degenerates. Her cancer is unstoppable. I felt a little melancholy when I look to the dead leaves of our oaks in our backyard. I need to sit in the chair. Just drink some tea, read my Bible, pray. Confused thoughts. But God is good. He will strengthen us. (I still read you blog).

  7. Your images bring joy, my friend. And thoughts of warmth and cozy evenings curled up with a good book. That little pumpkin is adorable, too. I think my favorite thing about any season is the change. I'm always ready. Have a blessed week!

  9. I love that texture too. it is the perfect pairing with your shots.

And, I think I have to hunt that tea down.

And, as usual, your decorations are leaving me swooning.

And, I love that you love every season.

And, my favorite season is fall... the cool crisp days, and soup waiting for me at home. A day all snuggled under a quilt reading with a warm cuppa. Pumpkin everything, but most of all the smell of fall. Fall smells the best to me.
