Creation groans

For its redemption and restoration

So do I

All the earlier troubles, chaos, and pain are things of the past, to be forgotten.

Look ahead with joy…”

I simply remember by favorite things…Friday’s favs…I’m lovin’ my Target rug!

When we put in our Craigslist wood floors I knew I wanted an area rug for the living room.  I found one at Target that I liked.  It’s made by Woolrich. My hubby wasn’t too sure about it.  Neither was my daughter.  But I liked it and decided to go for it.

When the new issue of Country Living came in my mailbox today, I felt like my decision must have been inspired!  Now I’m not just likin’, I’m lovin’ my Target rug!
If it’s good enough for the cover of Country Living magazine, it’s good enough for me!

Pop crate towel holder…

Have you seen what Pottery Barn is selling?

img19m

Yep.  Straight from some warehouse somewhere and straight into the Pottery Barn limelight.  And for a pretty penny too.

Well,  mine didn’t come from the P.B. catalog, but from my under the stairs “house decor I might use again someday” closet.

I’ve carted that thing house to house for over twenty years now!

So, I dug it out and tried sitting it nonchalantly around the house as shown in the catalog…nah…

it needed to be put to good use, instead of just lazing around.

Just goes to show you, hold on to something long enough, and it comes back in style…

just like bell bottoms.

“Your ears will hear a word behind you, saying, This is the way; walk in it, when you turn to the right hand and when you turn to the left.” Isaiah 30:21DSC_0014 “I (the Lord) will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with My eye upon you.  Be not like the horse or the mule, which lack understanding, which must have their mouths held firm with bit and bridle, or else they will not come with you.” Psalm 32:7-8DSC_0025

“For everyone who comes to Me and listens to My words [in order to heed their teaching] and does them, I will show you what he is like:

He is like a man building a house, who dug and went down deep and laid a foundation upon the rock; and when a flood arose, the torrent broke against that house and could not shake or move it, because it had been securely built or founded on a rock.

But he who merely hears and does not practice doing My words is like a man who built a house on the ground without a foundation, against which the torrent burst, and immediately it collapsed and fell, and the breaking and ruin of that house was great.”  Luke 6:47-49

Curiosity killed the cat…or turned it into a thief.

I’ve always loved the old shed.  It’s one of my favorite things that I pass on my walking route.  I found out it is on the edge of what is now city property. I am pretty sure it is eventually destined for the bulldozer.  In the past, I’ve been too chicken to go inside due to my fear of rodents. But this time, my curiosity was stronger than my fear.

I poked my camera through the crack in the door.

Then I waded through thorny blackberry bushes and went around back and found that part of the back wall is missing…

I beg you, do not call Crimestoppers  on me………

You thought I came home with that wonderful chippy old door, with its old rusty hardware, didn’t you?  I wish.

There was also the most wonderful wagon wheel inside with a red hub.  RED!  Sigh…

No, evidently I am more into petty crime.

I came home with this old wooden crate, scrubbed it all up, and it now sits happily  next to the couch and the old blue dresser…

I must  admit, my tender conscience is bothering me just a wee bit.

(Dear City of Portland,

I stole an old wooden crate from your abandoned shed.

If you want it back, leave a blog comment, and I will return it.)

We have this moment today…

  Today, some of the words to an old song bubbled up in my memory.  I had to google the lyrics, and thought them beautiful and appropriate to post today.

Hold tight to the sound of the music of living,

Happy songs from the laughter of children at play;

Hold my hand as we run through the sweet fragrant meadows,

Making mem'ries of what was today.

DSC_0017

We have this moment to hold in our hands and to touch as it slips through our fingers like sand;

Yesterday's gone and tomorrow may never come,

But we have this moment today.

Tiny voice that I hear is my little girl calling,

For Daddy to hear just what she has to say;

And my little son running there by the hillside,

May never be quite like today.

 We have this moment to hold in our hands and to touch as it slips through our fingers like sand;

Yesterday's gone and tomorrow may never come,

But we have this moment today.

Tender words, gentle touch and a good cup of coffee,

And someone who loves me and wants me to stay;

Hold them near while they're here and don't wait for tomorrow,

To look back and wish for today.

We have this moment to hold in our hands and to touch as it slips through our fingers like sand;

Yesterday's gone and tomorrow may never come,

But we have this moment today.

Take the blue of the sky and the green of the forest,

And the gold and the brown of the freshly mown hay;

Add the pale shades of spring and the circus of autumn,

And weave you a lovely today.

I simply remember my favorite things…Friday’s favs…I’m lovin’ creation’s beauty!

We have had the strangest weather here in the Portland area.  June was wet, wet, wet.  Since coming home from vacation it hasn’t been wet, but each morning has been overcast, and then in the afternoon the weather turns lovely.  Summer is over halfway over and I feel as though we haven’t had very summery weather here, but this weekend is supposed to be HOT!  I love it!  I want to cherish and savor each beautiful sunny moment!  I have been savoring the sunny afternoons/evenings this week. So, one evening, I sweet talked my hubby into taking me for a drive up the Columbia Gorge Scenic Highway east of Portland.  This is the beauty found only about a half hour’s drive east of our city.

Creation’s beauty inspires me.  It feeds my spirit.  It makes me wonder, if creation is this beautiful,

how beautiful, magnificent, wonderful, indescribable is the Creator?
