A small change to my autumn mantel

It was just last week when I showed you my autumn mantel.
Just call me fickle, because I already changed something.

Did you click on the link and then come back here to compare?
Yes, I added my vintage autumn paint by number to the mantel,
replacing the small oil painting of the children in rain boots that I did have there.
Now I'm all ready for October to begin!

God's Word is enough...

He whispers his insidious lies, not outlandish enough for me to dismiss outright like “there is no God,” for to me, God’s existence is evident all around me.  No, Satan is much more clever than that. He crafts his deception to fit my weakness perfectly, then builds his case by pointing to the circumstantial evidence and tries to get me to believe that he is actually speaking the truth.  “You are not enough” he breathes into my ear.  The evidence to confirm what he says is piled high…

Please join me here at Jennifer Duke Lee's for the rest of my post.  Jennifer was one of the first bloggers to reach out to me, to encourage me, when I started my blog in 2009.  What a blessing she was, (a former professional journalist!), to reach out to me, a no-name wannabe writer!  When I met her in person in 2013, she was every bit as gracious and kind and filled with Jesus as I imagined her to be.  Her book, Love Idol, tells her story from journalist to farmer's wife to book author, and her journey in growing to believe and accept the truth that we are pre-approved by God.

Whooo loves autumn?

(Kim's flow texture, screen mode, 25% opacity)

On a shelf in my dining room sits my vintage Shawnee owl cookie jar and salt and pepper shakers.
(Anthropologie carries a reproduction of this owl, but this is an original.)
Next to my owl is a pumpkin-like squash, which is the same shade of green as the accents on my owl.

(PicMonkey's tranquil, 50% opacity)

I really love the more non-traditional colors of pumpkins and squash to decorate with.

(Kim's 1011 texture, multiply mode, 80% opacity)

I also really love my owl,  a gift from two dear friends.
And as much as I love summer, I'm also in love with autumn.
Each season has things about it to love.

Thank you, Jesus...

When I was a young wife and mama years ago,
back in the church we volunteered in when my husband was still in Bible college,
 we learned this simple chorus.

"Thank you, Jesus.
Thank you, Jesus.
Thank you, Lord for loving me.
You went to Calvary,
and there you died for me,
Thank You, Lord for loving me.
You rose up from the grave,
to me new life you gave,
Thank You, Lord, for loving me.
You're coming back again,
and then with You I'll reign,
Thank you, Lord for loving me."

No matter what's happening in your life,
no matter the circumstances,
there's always something wonderful,
Someone wonderful to be thankful for.

Since 2009 I've been counting my blessings thanks to the prompting of Ann Voskamp.
I continue to count my thanks
piling up gratitude day by day
in my little black journal.
(and capturing some of my blessings via my camera or iPhone)

Psalm 145:9...

I believe that the God who created this earth,
Who decreed that His creation was good,
still watches over it,
over every bird that flies,
every creature swimming in the sea,
every autumn leaf as it changes color and flutters to the ground.
But above all, He watches over us,
He knows the exact number of hairs on our head,
every thought we think before we think it,
every tear we cry.
He is intimately acquainted with all of our ways,
He loves us and His tender mercies cover us.

Friday Faves...more easy autumn changes

Often it's the simplest and easiest things I like the best.
Like one white pumpkin placed on an old stool.

How about a wee coral squash on top of an old scale,
or a wicker pumpkin in an ironstone bowl.

Maybe add a simple Autumn greeting to a chalkboard or add a green pumpkin-like squash to a shelf.

An autumn themed sign to hang above your window is a nice touch.

The Nester says it doesn't have to be perfect to be beautiful.
It doesn't have to be complicated either!

It's almost Friday, friends.
Have a HAPPY, HAPPY Friday
and
a safe and BLESSED weekend.
