Weekly Gratitude Journal

I'm a notorious multi-tasker. I'm always scurrying about doing several things at once. Saturday evening I was getting dinner ready when I decided to run out to the garage for something I can't even now remember. I hurried through the laundry room out through the door into the garage and because I was rushing instead of being careful and was in my stocking feet, I slipped and landed hard on my back right rib area on the cement step. OUCH! I was pretty sure I broke a rib or two, but x-rays revealed no breaks! I do have some back muscles that need to heal up, but I'm so thankful that I wasn't more severely injured.  I could have hit my head or my spine, or broken a hip or leg or arm. Sore back muscles aren't fun-bending, twisting and even standing up from a sitting position is painful. But, it could have so much worse. I'm so thankful to God that it wasn't!

Since 2009 I've been counting my blessings thanks to the prompting of Ann Voskamp.
I continue to count my thanks,
piling up gratitude day by day in my journal.
(and capturing some of my blessings via my camera or iPhone)

  1. Oh, wow! I am rejoicing with you that you weren't seriously injured by your fall. Landing hard on concrete could have been so much worse than just soreness! Praise God for his protection.

I love your gratitude list. Gratitude in the everyday-ness of life, not just in big things is so important, and that is what your list shows!

It was in 2003 that the Lord prompted me to begin a gratitude journal. My husband was 7 months in to what turned out to be 25 months of unemployment. Times were bleak, and I didn't think I had anything to be thankful for. But in obedience to what the Lord put on my heart, I started my list. The more I gave thanks, the easier it became. I was faithful to record between 3 and 5 things every day. I ran a running list, just like you do. It was some time after 1,200 that I lost the journal while on a trip. Since then, I've begun another journal, but I remain bummed that I lost the other one. It was an amazing record of God's faithfulness!

    Blessings,
