Dark and moody still life attempt...

This is my first attempt at trying a more dark and moody still life, which is all the rage. Light and almost overexposed was the "in" thing in still life photography for so long, and now it's dark and moody. I'm enjoying trying something new, and these inexpensive spray roses from the grocery store in my favorite antique french canning jar are a favorite still life subject.
I took the photos late in the evening using the remaining natural light that comes through my dining room window.  I edited each photo using Kim Klassen's epic texture, which added to the dark and moody look. (I've still not learned to edit my photos using lightroom as I need to update my Macbook Pro to one with more memory before doing so.)
This was a fun first try, and I'm pleased with the results.

  5. Beautiful white roses. I finally switched to Lightroom about a month ago. It's so much better than the Aperture I was using on my mac. Of course now I have to move 20K photos.

  6. These are lovely shots! I think the white roses are a good contrast to the "moody" background. Great work!
