the Light shines on…

013verse

Sometimes I don’t think we believe this.

We read the news,

we see the spiritual and moral decline of our nation,

we face our own dark and trying circumstances,

and satan lies, convincing us that he’s winning.

He rubs our noses in the evidence all around us.

Lift up your heads, friends.

Did you know that when King Jesus returns

one of the first things He is going to do is “repay with distress and affliction those who distress and afflict you”?*

When He is revealed with His mighty angels,

He will deal out retribution to those who refuse to obey the gospel.*

In the end, it will only take one angel, only one, to cast satan into the pit forever, never to bother us again.*

Jesus wins, friends!

The darkness will not, can not, overcome Him,

or me,

or you.

Because He wins, we win.

  1. This IS a good reminder. Not that I wish His judgement on ANYone... Still, it is a "head-lifter" when I am tempted to be bowed with discouragement and grief over the moral & spiritual decline all around me!

  2. Hmmm, I just " happened" to read 1 Thess. 1 also this morning. I think I'll dwell a bit longer on these verses! Thank you for sharing Elizabeth. Love & prayers, in Jesus, Cynthia

    1. Isn't that just like the Lord to have a verse stand out to you in several different places. Sometimes I think He's smiling and saying, "Are you getting it yet?"

  3. Dear Elizabeth,

Another rendering of John 1:5 is "the darkness comprehended it not." Darkness does not understand the light. In fact, darkness makes fun of light. Oh, Elizabeth, as you so wisely point out. We should not be deceived by how things appear nor be shaped by those things as they appear. We get it, and, if we get it, we must stay focused and be about helping others get it because the end is going to be very bad--for those who don't.

    Wonderful post, Elizabeth!

  8. Elizabeth,
Do you know that yours is the 3rd post on light I've read this morning? And I've only read a very few posts....I love the way He speaks!

  9. Thank you for this post. I just finished reading how Kirk Cameron is being bashed for his stand. I went to his facebook to post encouragement for him and found out about an event he is airing in theaters March 27th called Monumental. He believes in being a light and taking a stand and needs our prayers as anyone taking a stand now will get ridicule. But you are so right, God wins and so do we.

  10. I want to stand up and cheer. I rarely if ever have time for a blog frolic on Sunday morning, but today I'm uncharacteristically early and waiting for the Man of the house to come downstairs.

What a joy and a blessing to open up this blog and find this message straight from God to Elizabeth to Debbie. Reading it, I think I got a glimmer of what that "other" Elizabeth felt when the spirit recognized the Word and leaped inside of her. Does that make sense? I hope so.

Thank you for letting Him use you this morning.

  11. Amen and Amen!!! The devil can definitely be suave and convincing and lead us down a path that ends terribly. But what joy and comfort there is in the truth...that Christ triumphs over all, even when it doesn't feel like it!

  12. Amen Elizabeth. He does like to rub our nose in all the evidence doesn't he. I hope you will keep me posted on your Africa trip. Would love to hear about it. I'll be praying.
