Friday Faves... Pretty New Storage Solution

I've been cleaning, decluttering and simplifying since the new year.  (You can read my three part cleaning and decluttering post here, here and here.)
In my kitchen nook I was ready for a change.  The old blue dresser that was formerly in the nook is now being used in our oldest daughter's farmhouse. I looked for something to put in it's place at my favorite antique mall as well as at Homegoods without luck.  I was pleasantly surprised to find the perfect cabinet, made of sturdy solid wood, at Ross. It was also super affordable!

Another plus is that the new cabinet has lots of storage for my many sets of cloth napkins, table runners, placemats and other kitchen/dining room linens. Believe it or not, I actually donated a lot of linens that I no longer love or use!

On the wall above my old blue dresser I used to have my painting of Bonnie the cow.  I still love that painting, but just wanted a change for a while.  Bonnie is carefully wrapped up and stored in a safe place and will make an appearance again, I'm sure.  My grandchildren were not happy that I took her down and the whole family was appalled that I might donate her too, since I've been getting rid of lots of stuff lately.  I assured them that I had no intention of doing so. In the place of the painting of Bonnie hangs an old french bread rack that I found at the Goodwill years ago.  It took me a lot of research to figure out what it was!
My oldest daughter gave me this set of ticking stripe napkins for Christmas.  I love them so much! They are our everyday napkins.

I'm happy with the changes to our little kitchen nook, but also happy that the old dresser that used to be there, (the only piece of furniture left from the home I grew up in), remains in the family at my daughter's home.

Have a happy Friday
and
a safe and blessed weekend!

  1. Your new cabinet is perfect! I loved seeing your supply of linens. I've been searching for blue and white kitchen linens - I might just have to shop at your house one of these days!
