THIS is the day that the LORD has made...

I don't think I'm alone in too often living my life looking forward to some future day instead of choosing to rejoice in today.  I look forward to our weekly day off. I look forward to an upcoming family celebration. I look forward to celebrating the next holiday. I look forward to vacation. Recently I felt the Holy Spirit whisper into my heart about the fact that God made THIS day. Today, Monday,  April tenth was made by God. Because of that fact alone, I can rejoice and be glad in it.
Since 2009 I've been counting my blessings thanks to the prompting of Ann Voskamp.
I continue to count my thanks
piling up gratitude day by day
in my journal.
(and capturing some of my blessings via my camera or iPhone)

-sunny day!
-thank you, God! Taxes done for another year.
-"I know that I can trust Him"

-my new large print journaling Bible
-a good time of prayer
-a powerful time of intercession with our small group
-tickets for my daughters and I to go to Maine for my 60th birthday!
-our oldest son-in-law's birthday today

-Nana school with my grandgirlie
-comfort from Psalm 3 and 4
-a walk to the park together
-happy youngest grandson to see his cousin

-God hears and answers our prayers
-walking and praying
-that yummy "tomorrow is our day off" feeling

-a spring wind and rain storm making our day off plans a lot more low key and mellow than we planned
-our snug, warm home
-watching the movie, A Man called Ove, with subtitles and my hubs actually loving it

-the sun coming out just as the helicopter arrived for Hope City's egg drop
-seeing all of my grandkids today
(no photos of the two oldest unfortunately!)

-the encouragement found in Psalm 5

fantastic time of worship
-more new faces at church
-His body broken for me, His blood shed for me
-a job offer at just the right time for one of our friends

still following,

  1. A good reminder, Elizabeth! The only thing we're guaranteed is the present. And it is a gift! Blessings on your week, friend.

  2. I love your gratitude journal (thanks for sharing)... and that's one of my favorite hymns (we played it at our wedding)!
