Friday Faves...Simple Autumn Decor 2016

Welcome to my home!  This week I painted my drab off white front door a rich cranberry color and added a brass kick plate to the bottom.  I added an autumn wreath that I bought last autumn as the finishing touch and now I'm ready to welcome the official first day of autumn, which is only a week away and to welcome YOU, my blog readers, to my home.
The inside of the front door remains a nice clean and crisp white like the rest of the interior trim.  I was amazed at what a difference it made having the trim painted white, instead of the off white that it was when we moved in.  It's so much cleaner looking!
I've not made many changes in the entryway for autumn except for adding wheat stalks to the galvanized pitcher, but a nice pumpkin may soon be perched on that little stool.
If you look through my blog archives, you'll see back to when my autumn decor included all things orange and obvious.  Now I like things a bit more neutral and simple.

On the mantel, the only new things I added for autumn are the wooden bead garland that I made with natural unstained wood beads I bought for half off at JoAnn's fabric and craft store, and the little wooden pedestal bowl I bought inexpensively at Ross.
The large wooden goose was purchased in Maine fifteen years ago, and shipped to my, (at that time), home in Portland, Oregon.  He's been tucked away in the garage for a few years, and I thought it was time for him to made a reappearance.

Not much has changed for autumn in the rest of the living room, but I'm satisfied with just a simple nod to the change of seasons.

Next week we'll take a peek into the dining room and kitchen.

It's almost Friday, friends!
Have a HAPPY, HAPPY Friday
and
a safe and BLESSED weekend!

  4. You are always such an inspiration to me! I love the color of your door and the wreath is perfect! And that goose! Oh, my goodness. For many years I've wanted a goose to add to my decor but never found one that fit my budget or my decor. Everything is so inviting,

  6. The more-neutral autumn approach is quite charming. Restful to the eye. I think the kick plate on your front door is a terrific addition (I do like the color, to).
