Friday Faves...Simple 4th of July mantel

I can't wrap my mind around the fact that fourth of July weekend is only a week away!
I'd like summer to slow down!
I made a few simple changes to my mantel in honor of Independence Day.
My living room is already decorated in blue and white with red accents,
as those are my favorite colors.
To the mantel, (that I already had my antique bottle collection on), I added some miniature flags,
some wooden letters spelling USA and a wooden Uncle Sam.
A red, white and blue fabric pennant garland hangs on the antique mirror.
The red, white and blue letters are from the cheap bin at Michael's Craft Store.
I sanded them a bit to make them look not so glossy and new.
I can't remember where I got my wooden Uncle Sam.
He's been around for quite some time.

My daddy was a Yankee Doodle Dandy, born on the fourth of July.
If he was still alive, this would have been his 95th birthday.

It's almost Friday!
Have a HAPPY, HAPPY Friday
and
a safe and BLESSED weekend!

  1. Love your Uncle Sam! How neat that your dad was born on July 4th! and yes, slow down summer, please! Have a blessed weekend, Elizabeth.

  2. Love it! I'd like summer to slow down, too! My Rebekah LOVES all things patriotic. We were thinking Ava would be an Independence Day baby, but she waited four more days before making her appearance. And I watched Yankee Doodle Dandy a couple of months ago. It's one of my favorite movies.

  3. Fourth of July already?! Say it isn't so!!

I always love the vignettes that you display. This one is really cute! We don't really have any plans for 4th of July, though our mountain town has a rather big parade down our main street! It's fun!! Of course, no fireworks up in these mountains!!!!

    GOD BLESS!
