Valentine's weekend thanksgiving...

It's my granddaughter's 6th birthday today!
My daughter had a horrible week with both her and our granddaughter having the flu,
and then my daughter broke a tooth,
which is requiring a root canal.
After the week she had, I volunteered to host our granddaughter's birthday party for her.
So, it's been a full, busy, tiring, but happy Sunday.

All that to say, I'm sure you can understand if I'm not too wordy tonight.
Let's just dive right in to my weekly gratitude list.

Since 2009 I've been counting my blessings thanks to the prompting of Ann Voskamp.
I continue to count my thanks
piling up gratitude day by day
in my little green journal.
(and capturing some of my blessings via my camera or iPhone)

-watching the two oldest grands while their mama and daddy were out of town
-playing Scrabble with them

(My grandson tried to convince me that legomine is a word.
He explained that that when your room is full of Legos your mom says,
"You have enough Legos for a Lego mine!")
-a rainy day walk
-some cheery green plants

-working on wedding plans with our youngest daughter
-facetiming with our youngest grandson who's got more new teeth
-the hubs and I going on a walk after dinner

-birdsong in the morning, a sign that spring is coming
-starting PIYO exercises today

-the Hubs and I relaxing and watching a movie together before bed

-the daffodils are beginning to bloom already

-meeting the Hubs for dinner at Chipotle,
(my favorite fast food and not so much his, but he indulges me!)

-Friday!-the hubs weekly day off and our date day!
-a foggy morning

-new running shoes for 50% off the clearance price
-getting dressed up and going out together for a wonderful pre-Valentine dinner out

-the Hub's Valentine card to me
-our kiddos that were traveling today all having safe trips
-my daughter's happy face when her fiancé brought her tulips,
her favorite flowers
-"nesting"-Saturday chores and changing a few things with spring in mind
-yummy homemade soup and homemade bread for dinner
-a great evening walk just in time to see the sunset

-ending the day with time in God's Word

-our miracle from heaven granddaughter's sixth birthday
-the whole family here for dinner and a party to celebrate
-our granddaughter spending the night so she can have some special time with us tomorrow while her mama has her root canal

gratefully yours,

  1. Beautiful list this week. Legomine? ha!

  2. Grr. Wasn't signed in to blogger so it zapped my comment! Will try to remember:

Sorry about the illness and tooth! Happy Birthday….adorable cupcakes! Chipotle is our favorite "fast food" as well. They do a great job of making it truly gluten free. We make a "fake" chipotle with McCormick's Grill Mates in the Chipotle and roasted garlic flavor(careful, some of the others have sulfites). We use a blend of canola and olive oil, mixed with the seasoning, and marinate for a while. We grill up the chicken and then slice and serve on Missoni corn tortillas that we find at Target. (wish we could find GF, GMO free!). It's sooooo good! I use the leftover chicken in a salad the next day. We are on vacation this week, so off to clean and organize!

    1. I make homemade Chipotle burrito bowls too, but I didn't know about that seasoning! Thanks! Have a good week off!

  3. Great List, Elizabeth. You have a busy but fulfilling life. Love to read your gratitudes.

  4. I always love your list posts! Hope everybody's feeling all better now. xo

  5. Happiest Birthday to a beautiful and precious granddaughter! Sounds like you helped make that day extra-special, Elizabeth. Hope it was a good ending to a rough week!!

  6. Hi Elizabeth! You were so kind to step in for your poor daughter. A cracked tooth on top of the flu? Ugh. Birthdays are such an exciting event for the littles, I know you were greatly appreciated. (Love the Frozen theme too!)
How fun that you have 'date days' with your husband! That's such a great idea. The photo of the fog was really capturing the day for me!

    1. Ceil, there's something about the fog that I love as well.

  7. Checking in a bit late this week - lots of activities going on. Good things! I thought of your youngest daughter on Valentine's Day - her first with her soon-to-be hubby! So many things to be thankful for. You always inspire and challenge me, dear friend. I love coming here to see what you have to share.

    1. Sounds like we are both busy. Love you, friend!
