A fun vacation find...

We're on vacation at a rental condo on the Oregon Coast for a few days,
and we will end our vacation with some time at a friend's condo in central Oregon.
Sometimes, I like to bring a little touch of home with me when we stay in a vacation rental.
I brought my favorite Laura Ashley "ginger nut" candle from home.

When we stopped at the grocery store before checking into our rented condo,
I added a four dollar bouquet of carnations to our cart.
I thought I'd just use a drinking glass for my little inexpensive bouquet,
but popped into the local Goodwill near the grocery store
and found this Meakin ironstone sugar bowl for a very thrifty price.
I think it makes a cute little vase.

I like its curvy handles.

I think carnations are an under appreciated, but lovely flower.
Just look at those ruffle-y, soft pink petals.
They make thrifty, long lasting bouquets.

And now I thought I'd share a few photos from the Oregon coast!
Here's the view from our condo balcony.
You can see that this morning started out quite foggy,
but by this afternoon it was clear and warm.

I love the way this driftwood looks like a frame standing there on the shore.

Across the bay from our condo is a beach where the sea lions like to gather.
(It looks like someone is camping with them!)

Here's another view of the bay from our condo as the sun started to go down.

I was a bit heavy hearted last week with all of the ugliness going on in our nation and our world.
The sea always reminds me of the greatness of our God
and I am reassured that He is still on the throne and in control.

still following,

  1. Simply beautiful. May God bless your vacationing days and fill them with strong and unmistakeable truths of His faithfulness and steadfast love. God IS still on the throne. And prayer changes things. (Was it J. Vernon McGee who used to say this on his daily radio program?)

  6. Good Morning,
I love the precious little sugar bowl, too! I collect white ironstone creamers and pitchers...and bowls and platters. Ha! I guest you could say most anything in lovely white ironstone. :) The carnations look lovely in it. So cute that you take a piece of home with you when you vacay. I'm a homebody, too. Glad you were able to "get away" for awhile. Your OR coast is gorgeous. We live in Georgia, so we have to drive a little ways to see the coast. Thanks for sharing your vacay with us and have a lovely time. Oh, and I do love the assurances we have in Christ, too. He is def. in control when all we can see is "out of control".
    Blessings my friend,
    Cindy~

  7. Elizabeth, You are so adorable. How nice you make your rentals feel like home. I love the carnations in the white ironstone. Your $4.00 was well spent because those little flowers will last a looooooong time. When I saw the Sea Lions I knew exactly where you were. Did you get a bowl of clam chowder at Mo's? Yummy! I hope the rest of your trip is full of blessings. Thanks for sharing the pics.

    Love you,
    Debbi

  8. Yes, He is still in control. I think of the old song that says, 'God is still on the throne - and He will remember His own.' We don't understand it all when the world is falling apart all around us, but this is one thing we can hang onto! I love your pretty find and the carnations are perfect. Since I know exactly where you are spending part of your vacation and I know that Goodwill - did you see the new, big Goodwill that is being built on the highway near the outlet mall? We were where you are a couple of weeks ago and it was exciting to think of the new thrifting possibilities there soon.
