Bloom...

(texture-Kim's just a touch, overlay, 30% opacity)

I picked up the orchid,
ready to thrown it out,
thinking it had no life left in it,
when I noticed three buds.

(texture-Kim's rainy day, soft light, 15% opacity)

The next week,
it began to bloom.

(texture-Kim's 1111 screen mode, 25% opacity)

Sometimes, it's all too easy to give up,
to quit too soon.
Your season to bloom might be sooner than you think.

    1. Thank you so much, Stacey! It was a new experiment to shoot it purposefully backlit.

  2. Elizabeth, I always manage to kill orchids. I'm very impressed. Excellent analogy :-)

    1. Thank you, Anne. I really did have nothing to do with it's growth. It has been sorely neglected and I did actually think it was time to throw it out!

  7. you really do orchids so well, I usually have two or three in my house at a time and find them difficult to photograph but you have really done so nicely. I must practice.

    1. Barbara, I neglect orchids well, and then a miracle happens and they bloom! The photos were an equally pleasant surprise as I was trying something new with having them backlit.

  12. I absolutely love your first photo. The composition is great with the diagonal line through the photo from the top left to lower right caused by the dark stems and the lighter blossom. And what a fabulous background. Beatifully done.

  16. I for one am glad to benefit from your experimenting! These are lovely! and you are blessed to have an orchid bloom for you! It's not humid enough where I am, I guess, and I forget to spritz them everyday :)
