Flowers in the house...

An elegant bouquet in a chippy old enamelware pitcher is perfect in my book.
The sophisticated flowers juxtaposed against a simple, well used, homey container makes me smile.

A mixed bouquet from the Hubs withered away, all except these hearty mums.
I just trimmed them up and made a small arrangement in an old spice jar.
It adds some sunny, yellow cheer next to the kitchen sink.

We had a barbecue at our house this weekend.
Some queen anne's lace and some daisies in blue canning jars
were the centerpieces on our outdoor tables.

It only takes a few gerber daisies to brighten up the room.

Hoping these photos bring some cheer to your day,
like flowers in the house do to mine.

still following,

  1. I think having cut flowers in the house have magical properties. They are some of my favorite things, and they make everything nicer, even when there's a giant mountain of laundry behind them. :)

    1. I always think of Anne of Green Gables gathering the last of the summer's Queen Anne's lace with her bosom friend, Dianna. :)

  8. Oh Elizabeth, we are such kindred souls here. I just told my daughter about an hour ago that if I had unlimited resources, I would fill my home with fresh flowers. They don't have to be fancy, either. In fact, just like you I like the simple collection of simple flowers the best. I tried to grow more for picking this year, but they got rain weary.

    1. Stargazers are a showstopper, but can be a little overpowering in the smell department sometimes.
