Friday's Favs...Lilacs and Grain Sack Style Tablecloths

To me the blooming of the daffodils announce spring's arrival,
but it's the blooming of the lilacs that signal that we're smack dab in the thick of spring, beautiful spring!

I just can't resist an old wood tool caddy.
I found this one at the Goodwill sometime last fall.
When my second born daughter and her family were staying with us while relocating back to the area,
my grandson used this tote to store his army guys and action figures.

Today the old tool caddy houses old blue canning jars filled with lilacs.
On the table is a grain sack style tablecloth found at Marshall's.
I love anything with this sort of homespun look.

I do believe lilacs are right up there on my favorite flowers list.

Of course, I have lots of favorites...
kind of in the same way I have three favorite daughters and four favorite grandkids!

So, what are your favorite flowers?

Peonies, English Roses, Tulips, Lilacs, Bluebells, Lily of the Valley...
I do believe it's impossible to choose just one!

Well, it's almost Friday, friends!
Have a HAPPY, HAPPY Friday
and
a BLESSED weekend!

  2. You have lilacs already?! Ohhh, I'm so envious. They're one of my favorites too, along with peonies, ranunculus, and hydrangeas. Really the list could go on and on!

Oh, you asked about the chair in my last post. It's from Room and Board. They don't carry it any longer, but I do think they have some other slipcovered pieces. They sell such wonderfully made furniture. Most of it now though is more mid-century modern.

  3. I can smell them from here .. Oh gosh I remember when we lived on our farm in MO and had a lilac bush .. I wanted to just drink in it's fragrance ..I miss it so dearly .. Lilacs don't do well in our desert environment so I have to enjoy them now from those of you that share ..

Your photographs are just beautiful !

    Happy Spring !

  8. This is just gorgeous. I count lilacs as one of my very favorite flowering trees. My mother had beautiful ones in the house where I grew up in New England. They don't grow here, unfortunately. Mother actually carried some from that house to our Georgia house (on her lap... one thousand miles in the car. Good old mom.) She planted them, and after about 7 years, they bloomed. Unfortunately, the drought that we've had for the past many years killed that bush.

Love what you did with them.

  9. I love many of the wonderfully fragrant flowers that God created. Lilacs are one of my favorites because of their beautiful color and lovely scent. Another favorite, though not fragrant, is the pretty pansy with its cheerful smile and purple and lavender colors. It lasts even through snow, and it makes me smile to see them when the snow melts.

One year, we enjoyed our lilacs and a beautiful spring here in the mountains of So. CA, then went to a conference in New Hampshire in May and had spring and lilacs all over again. Great fun!

    Have a blessed weekend, Elizabeth!

  10. Hi Elizabeth, I love your tool box and tablecloth. But, like you, the lilacs are what always catch my attention. My bush is blooming like crazy, a sight I look forward to each spring. I picked a big bunch and brought them into the Cottage and both my hubby and I could not stop sneezing. It has never happened before. Hope it's just a passing thing!. Where would I be without my lilacs!!..Happy Weekend..Judy
