In honor of Mama…

014pk

The doctors and nurses said she was in final stages of heart failure.

My South Carolina daughter and grandbabies flew in to see her.

They brought such sunshine into her life.

This is one of my last photos of her, the morning they walked into her room and surprised her.

Three days later she went to heaven.

She wasn’t a perfect mother.

As my brother says, she wasn’t a Hallmark card mother.

She was pretty “no nonsense”, not flowery, not expressive.

She was there, she was steady, she was faithful, she was hard-working, she was persevering,

she was self-sacrificing, she raised us to know Jesus,

and to this day there is no better homemade bread than hers.

She was my Mama,

and today I honor her.

Still following,

Elizabeth

  2. I thought of you and another dear blog friend as I came to my dashboard tonight because I knew that this year would be the first year without your mothers here in the flesh.

This was a beautiful tribute, and I love the love on those faces in that picture.

I pray that you have a very blessed day tomorrow, Elizabeth.

  3. What a sweet picture and sweet memories of your dear mother. My mama has such a hard time on Mother's Day now that my grandmother has gone home. Oh, but our heavenly Father is still here and still bears our burdens. Praying for you this weekend. Love to you and your family.
