Waiting for Resurrection…

010

I’m in the Walmart buying lightbulbs

when the heaven’s break loose

and pour down rain so fierce

it rumbles and makes a deafening roar against the roof

and all the shoppers stop and look at each other

and when we look in each other’s eyes

I know we are all thinking the same thing

that this earth we stand on can just rock, and reel, and split clean open

and there’s not a thing we can do to stop it

and aren’t we all just insignificant specks

and isn’t this body of flesh so weak, so vulnerable

All day long the storm rages and the skies pour and boom and flash

and it seems like the creation around me really is groaning, is mourning

and that all creation is in the time of Lent

waiting for the Resurrection

when He makes all things new

  9. Thanks Elizabeth for sharing your heart!! Oh, how we truly are experiencing Birth Pains as God's Word tells us....and how I pray for Japan, and am quickly reminded These things, Jesus said, will be the beginning of birth pains. As a pregnant woman’s birth pains indicate that her child will soon be born, so these universal conflicts and catastrophes will mean the end of this interadvent Age is near.

Oh how I await the day of rejoicing!! Face to face with Him!!!

  11. The idea of the earth's resurrection makes my pulse quicken. To see, not just know or believe, but to see Him restore, set aright and anew.

  12. Yeah, especially at this particular moment in history! Can we go 3 months without a major earthquake reshaping a continent, or a war breaking out?! As a humanitarian aid worker, we track the world's disasters closely - unfortunately, the next disaster is likely to be my next job. Among my colleagues, we've been beginning to wonder if it's the end of the world! But I don't know... this is the cycle of Creation, so I actually like your drawing a parallel between the weather and God's Lent.
