Love gives…

She prayed day after day, year after year for a child

Then when God gave her the desire of her heart

Hannah gave her son right back to Him

It made no logical sense to the mind

But her heart knew that love gives

lavishly, unreservedly

She saved day after day, year after year

Her life savings, her security

All in that alabaster flask that she emptied out in worship

On the Lover of her soul

It made no logical sense to the mind

To waste all that she had saved

But her heart knew that love gives

lavishly, unreservedly

It makes no logical sense to the mind

God in the flesh, perfect and sinless

Dying for people whose deceitful, wicked hearts

Day after day, year after year, stray away

After gods that are not God

But Love gave

lavishly, unreservedly

He was the Alabaster Flask of Priceless Perfume

Poured out for us

Wasted for us

It makes no logical sense to the mind

My life poured out for Him

Spilled out in worship to a God I cannot see

But my heart knows that love gives

lavishly, unreservedly

Still following,

Elizabeth

  9. *nodding* i need to cling to this giving lavishly and unreservedly. it can be so easy to slip back into measuring love by earthly gain, not by lavish generousity.
