Receiving life with thanks...

Today the weather has let us know that it's still summer for eleven more days, but the telltale signs are here that autumn is on its way. Creation always reveals to us the passing of time. First day of school photos of the grands brings home the fact that time truly does fly by.  Part of me wants to grieve that it zooms by so fast-the other part of me doesn't want to waste one minute of now grieving over the fact that yesterday is gone.

Today's blue skies and hot weather will soon give way to the gray clouds and rain that come with autumn.  I could mourn that it is no longer shorts and sandals weather, that watermelon is no longer in season, or I can enjoy and give thanks for cozy candlelight on dark autumn evenings and my favorite red soup pot full of chicken and rice soup simmering on the stove. I choose to receive life with thanks and to welcome each new season as it comes.

Since 2009 I've been counting my blessings thanks to the prompting of Ann Voskamp.
I continue to count my thanks
piling up gratitude day by day
in my journal.

  1. Happy anniversary a bit late! Your grandkids are growing up - just like mine. They looked great for their first day of school. There's so much to be thankful for.
