Gift heaped upon gift...

If there's one thing I've learned in the seven years that I've been keeping a gratitude journal, it's that God is not stingy.  He is lavishly generous, heaping gift upon gift in my life. I just wish I'd taken the time to notice, to count my blessings, to write them down, decades ago.  What a wonderful record I could have had of His steadfast love and watchful care through all of the joys and challenges of the early years of our marriage and of raising our girls. At the same time, I'm so glad that it's never too late to start a good habit!
Since 2009 I've been counting my blessings thanks to the prompting of Ann Voskamp.
I continue to count my thanks
piling up gratitude day by day
in my journal.
(and capturing some of my blessings via my camera or iPhone)

-post Christmas clean up, eating healthy after yesterday's rich food, being together
-a phone call from my oldest brother
-our own home and our own comfy bed

-a quiet day puttering around the house while the hubs worked at the church

-fog in the foothills
-a safe drive to the beach
-walking on the beach with the two oldest grands

-making tacos for dinner together
-youngest daughter and her hubs deciding to come to the beach too
-a funny text and photo from our oldest daughter
(our daughter and her hubs got distracted and didn't realize their pup had figured out how to get on the table
and eat some food left behind by their daughter)
-youngest daughter feeling the baby moving a lot now

-a beautiful winter day by the sea

-good heart to heart conversation as we drove home
-the blessing of home

-coffee in bed
-walking while listening to podcasts on this sunny winter morning
-quiet time to search some scriptures about my word for 2017
-a sweet evening together watching a favorite old movie

-morning blue hour just before sunrise
-watching the Washington Huskies/Alabama game with some of our family
-worshipping and praying in the New Year with our church

-another year of God's new mercies
-a lazy, cozy day of reading a new book

still following,

  1. Thanks for sharing your blessings. Wonderful list!

  2. Always an inspiration - what a great start to the new year!

  3. Ah, the dog on the table! Blue hour in the morning and evening is such a delight to catch with the camera. I am excited to see you are continuing on with your list! Happy New Year!
