Copper and Coffee and some photo fun...

Copper is back on trend now,  just like brass which was also a decor taboo for a while.
(Brass is also back in style and it always happens after I've gotten rid of it all!)
(edited with Kim Klassen's 99 texture, hard light, 15% opacity)
I had a "brilliant" idea to buy a can of copper spray paint with my 40% off coupon at Michael's craft store,
and spray some things I already had around the house.
This galvanized tray, a.k.a. drip pan, was my first victim.
(Don't you love my new sugar and creamer set?
My husband got them for me for Valentine's day.
He knows I love it when the words are written in French.)

This one's for Songography~
(lyrics from You're So Vain by Carly Simon)

I sprayed some shapely bottles and some Dollar Tree ceramic birds with the copper spray paint as well.
Do my "on trend" DIY copper accents make me one of the cool kids now?

still following,

  3. I love it!!! I still have brass candle holders that I refuse to get rid of. Guess I'm not too trendy ;) But I like the idea of spray painting a few things, especially the bottles. Did you have to do any prep other than making sure they were clean?

    1. I just made sure the bottles were clean. I figured I had nothing to lose if my idea didn't work. I passed on all my brass to my daughter, so at least someone is getting use out of it.

  5. I love that pen and ink drawing (and its mat) above the tray with the sprayed bottles and bird.

    1. I've had those ink and pen drawings for over three decades, done by a sweet lady in a church where we were youth pastors.

    1. Not brave at all. Three dollars worth of spray paint and nothing to lose since I didn't paint anything of value.

  8. Good idea to paint them. I'd just keep them how they were and be completely out of vogue. Nice image for the song!

  12. Great idea with the spray paint! I have an old and very dated fake brass chandelier I've been wondering what to do with...now I have an idea :). Thanks for sharing at Song-ography.
