Grateful...

Yesterday was my youngest daughter's wedding shower.
She asked me if I wanted her to do my hair and makeup.
I sat with my eyes closed as she brushed eye shadow over my eyelids,
when suddenly I was flooded with memories of the many occasions when my sisters and I
did the same thing for our mama.
It felt like some sort of passing of the torch,
me receiving this bit of caregiving from my girl.
It also made me miss my mama, and made me wish she was here to see our youngest get married,
as she was for our two older daughters.
More than anything though, I just felt grateful to God for His ongoing faithfulness to us through the years.

Since 2009 I've been counting my blessings thanks to the prompting of Ann Voskamp.
I continue to count my thanks
piling up gratitude day by day
in my little green journal.
(and capturing some of my blessings via my camera or iPhone)

  3. What a lovely, blessed week. Sometimes I think I will quit with the list when I get to a certain number and then I continue. I'm not sure how long I'll keep it up, but I sure do love reading yours.
