Thank God in everything...

I locked the front door, got in the car and started it, when I realized that I had left my Bible in the house.
I had to run back in the house and get it.
Again, I locked the front door, got in the car and started it, when I realized I had left my journal.
I ran back into the house to get it.
I locked the door, got in the car and started it, and got a block from the house.
Stopping at the stop sign, I happened to glance in the rear view mirror
and noticed I had forgotten to put in my earrings.
You guessed it, I went around the block, ran back into my house, put in my earrings and left, finally, for church.
I let my husband, who goes to the church early,  know I was running late and was about to tell him I needed to be tested for memory loss, when I pulled up toward the entrance onto the freeway.
Two police cars with lights on were dealing with a very recent car accident.
It appeared that it had happened just moments before.
Who knows just where I might have been when the accident happened
if I hadn't been delayed by my "forgetfulness"?
I very possibly could have been right in the middle of it.
You don't always see the reason to give thanks for everything,
most of the time you have to give thanks by faith.
But every once in a while God gives you a peek into the reason to trust Him, to thank Him,
even for something frustrating like running late.

Since 2009 I've been counting my blessings thanks to the prompting of Ann Voskamp.
I continue to count my thanks
piling up gratitude day by day
in my little black journal.
(and capturing some of my blessings via my camera or iPhone)

  2. Your "forgetfulness" story reminds me of the old Amy Grant song - Angels.....God only knows the times my life was threatened just today
A reckless car ran out of gas before it ran my way
Near misses all around me, accidents unknown
Though I never see with human eyes the hands that lead me home
God, I know they're all around me all day and through the night
When the enemy is closing in I know sometimes they fight
To keep my feet from falling I'll never turn away
If you're asking what's protecting me then you're gonna hear me say

    [Chorus 2x]

    Angels watching over me
    Angels watching over me
    Angels watching over me
    Angels watching over me
Though I never see with human eyes the hands that lead me home...

♥ all the photos of your precious family....

  3. My dear father used to say 'God orders our steps as well as our stops!' I've seen it happen so many times I'm totally convinced he was right. Loved reading of your adventures on your way to church. I sounds like what I do too often these days - constantly going back for one more thing I forgot!

  4. I wonder just how many bad things we've avoided because of the Lord's perfect timing?! It's a wonder to me that I ever doubt His providence.

And loved the photos! Every single one was just adorable!!

    GOD BLESS!

  7. I think this counting is going to be one of my blog posts each week. I have missed it thoroughly this year, the counting and the capturing. I always love your counting posts.
