An owl takeover...

I swore I'd never get sucked into "theme" decorating since my apple decorated kitchen that I had in the nineties.
Once people find out you collect apples you're doomed to have dozens and dozens of apple themed gifts.
I think I've finally gotten rid of almost all of those old apple-y things except my Franciscan ware apple dishes, which I still love.

But this time, I have no one to blame but myself.
It started with the one little owl planter above.

Then I saw this Shawnee pottery cookie jar owl at an antique store and fell in love with him.
Some friends bought him for me, and this is the one owl that I'll keep forever.
The Shawnee pottery owl salt and pepper shakers I found and bought myself.

Then this little owl cup came along.

And now an owl bank.
Help. Me.
{At least they're spread out in various rooms in the house.}

still following,

  3. There must be a support group for owl people! Love each of them, though. Maybe no one will notice since they're in separate rooms!

  4. Well it's all so cute to me, and I smiled because I actually remember when you brought home that first owl.

I do know what you mean about folks knowing that you have a theme. It happens to all of us. (My farmer BIL even gets more than his share of John Deere themed stuff, and he doesn't even collect them.) Still, the owls are adorable and, dare I say it? A wise choice.

  5. You have such good taste. Those owls just look like they belong there. I adore that GEICO commercial about owls not being that wise. It's funny to me every time. :)

    1. Thanks for thinking I have good taste. I'll tell my husband you said so the next time I drag some old thing home from thrifting that he views as junk!

  6. I started collecting tea pots several years ago, but realized after about 8, I had no where to put them. That cured any desire to collect (oh, that and the fact that I would have more to dust).

    1. So true, Elizabeth. I have a cycle of gather, purge, gather, purge. I use the excuse that if I get rid of things I can go thrifting and find more!

  7. Love the cookie jar. My MIL collects white ducks. My kids love to try and count all the ones in her kitchen. 60-something, if I remember correctly...

    1. Are they white geese perhaps...if so, we all had them in the 80's! That was before the apple kitchen phase.

    1. My word for the year is TRUST...I had a feeling that choosing that word meant I would face things that challenged me in the area of trust. Sure enough, it's been very stretching!
