Mama, can you see me?

This whole trip to Maine, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island and Nova Scotia was a dream of ours for years.

We had visited Maine, the place Mama grew up, and most of the other New England states for our 25th anniversary.

We planned and dreamed to return to Maine and then visit P.E.I., where Mama was born, for our 35th anniversary.

Who could have ever known that Mama’s death in January and the little inheritance she left us would help to finance and make our long time dream come true.

Today when we visited Mama’s cousin and were able to visit the farm and home that my great grandfather built, the very home my Mama was born in, I wondered if she could see us.

I know the Bible tells us we are surrounded by a great cloud of witnesses, but I’m not sure what all that means.

All I know is that today it seemed like Mama was smiling on us.

Still following,

  1. What a wonderful experience and trip! ...that last line made me tear up.

  2. What a sweet story. So glad you got to take that trip. So sorry that your mom is gone.

Blessings to you. I'm still following Him too...

  3. What a wonderful post, Elizabeth. Such a sweet tribute to your momma. She grew up in such a pretty house in such a pretty place. It was nice that you were able to walk the floors that she once did.... ♥

  4. I like to think your Mama is indeed smiling on you. The verse goes perfectly with the image. So lovely!

  5. Dropping by from Scriptures & a Snapshot. (My blogger profile hasn't gone live)

  6. I am so glad you had this experience. LOVE never dies. Love conquers EVERYTHING.

  7. oh, beautiful...we recently traveled to the farm where I spent some of my childhood (it had been in the family for many generations). That feeling and love for heritage...oh, your post brings up so many emotions.

  8. Elizabeth,
What a beautiful home. So glad you were able to take this special trip. And Maine....I was right!

  9. I'm sure she was, my friend - very sure! What a wonderful thing that you could be there to honor her and have your dreams come true!
